Description
New Orleans is a place filled with interesting local culture. I'm not sure that a graffiti "sign" reading "King Baby" would make much sense anywhere else. Some would be taken aback the first time they are called "Baby" by a stranger. In this day and age it might conjure up some sensitivity and seem odd to hear in such a liberal city. Then you hear a bearded 30 something with a man bun called "Baby" by one of his friends and it all makes sense! Sort of?
This image was captured one morning in the Bywater neighborhood just down river from the French Quarter. This neighborhood was called the "upper ninth ward" before hurricane Katrina. With very minimal flood damage, it flourished under its new designation and has become a thriving neighborhood filled with cafes, art galleries and air B&Bs.
